A rumor has been murking about that J.J. Abrams was possibly going to be dropping out of his directorial duties for Star Wars Episode VII. This would not be the worst news ever (here’s why). It was said that, with Paramount’s interest in getting Star Trek 3 in the pipeline as quick as possible (Star Trek’s 50th anniversary is 2016), Abram’s ability to helm the world’s two most beloved sci-fi properties at the same time might be in question.
But it turns out not to be so. Lucasfilm has released a statement reaffirming the role of director for Mr. Abrams for Star Wars Episode VII. The screenplay, by Michael Arndt (Toy Story 3) may or may not be pictured here.
Thus, the consolidation of the world’s entertainment continues.
